Personal Profile:

Dr Alexey Shitvov is presently a RAEng/EPSRC Research Fellow in the School of Electronics, Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, Queen’s University of Belfast.

He received Diploma Engineer (Engineer-Physicist) summa cum laude in Physics of Semiconductor Devices and Microelectronics from N. I. Lobachevsky State University of Nizhny Novgorod in 1995 and PhD by Research in Electronic and Electrical Engineering from the Queen’s University of Belfast in 2009. In 2009 he was awarded the prestigious RAEng/EPSRC Research Fellowship to conduct frontier research in passive intermodulation generation in distributed microwave components.

 
Research Interests:
  • Phenomenology and experimental characterization of high-power nonlinearities in printed circuit and waveguide components.
  • Electromagnetic characterization of metamaterials
  • High-power effects in metamaterials
  • Microwave near-field probing techniques and instrumentation
  • Advanced passive intermodulation test and measurement methodologies and instrumentation
