Personal Profile:
Huiyu Zhou, senior research engineer of video analytics, holds a BEng in radio technology, a MSc in biomedical engineering, and a PhD in computer vision. He worked in the Group of Human Centred Robotics Research, Department of Computer Science, University of Essex (2004 – 2006), and in the Multimedia and Vision Research Group, Department of Electronic Engineering, Queen Mary, University of London (2006 – 2007), and then he joined in the Centre for Media Communications Research, School of Engineering and Design, Brunel University (2007 – 2009) to work on the EU RUSHES research project. He moved to CSIT, Queen’s University Belfast, in 2009, where he is now working on video surveillance. Dr. Zhou’s main research interests are focused on image understanding and its applications. Topics of particular interest at present are new algorithms or systems for event search and retrieval, and target tracking in distributed sensor networks.
